P.6 at The Workhouse

Primary 6 visited Ranfurly House and Dungannon Library where they researched facts on the workhouse in the 1800’s. An interesting morning was had by all when they met the very stern guardian of the workhouse, Mrs McKinley. Not a sound was made by the children, when they listened intently to the rules of the workhouse and what life was like during the ‘Great Hunger’ of 1845 in Ireland. Everyone agreed that they definitely preferred life in 2024!
