P.6 Living History
4th Apr 2023
P.6 have been learning all about the Irish famine through 'World Around Us' and by reading their class novel 'Under the Hawthorn Tree' in Literacy. To enrich their experience and understanding of this topic they recently visited Dungannon Library where they did famine/workhouse research. They followed this with a visit to Ranfurly House in Dungannon. Here they got some first hand experience as to what life would have been like in a workhouse. We finished off the topic by an exciting trip to the ‘Ulster American Folk Park’ where the children got a true insight into life in the 1800’s. A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all.
