St John’s Boys Win The Teams NI Flahavans School Final
We were delighted that eight members of the school made it through to the Flahavan’s Primary School Cross Country finals in Mallusk and very proud to announce that St John's Primary came first overall in the boys’ team event. This is a sensational result given it was our first year competing at the Flahavans XC event. The Moy boys stormed home 20 points ahead of seasonal XC winners Kings Park Lurgan and Stranmillis Primary. The hard work and effort shown by the children in the preceding three qualifying rounds was immense and the boys’ team had qualified from the Southern Section in first place also.
In the girls’ race event we also had fantastic running from Grace Gervin who had qualified individually in the top 5 in the Southern Section. She had a brilliant race finishing 13th overall in a time of 7:04.00 considering she ran most of the race with one spike!
The entire school community is extremely proud of the achievement and hard work involved in getting to these very competitive finals with over 1200 competitors. Well done also to the other boys and girls that ran in the preceding three rounds in Portadown, Lurgan and Armagh.
We are very grateful to Mr Campbell for his passion and dedication to athletics in our school. Thanks also to the parents who have given their time and energy in supporting our school in these events.
